Hello one and all and welcome to our new website! Here you’ll find the products that The Storybook Café Gifts sell alongside The Storybook Café blog which will keep you updated on the events that are happening each week. If this is the first you’ve seen or heard of us then here’s a quick summary of what we’re all about!
The Storybook Café is a peer support group for mental health established in 2016 and supported by grants from UnLtd and Rainbow Heron, offering books and free activities that boost mental welfare. Our aim is to make a space where all are welcome to socialise and are free to talk mental health, books, or anything at all! We promote self-care and doing little things every day that make you happy and which start to make a difference altogether. The activities we offer such as reading, letter writing, origami, and colouring help to improve wellbeing. We are based at Mugen Tea House in Sheffield city centre on a Wednesday 12–3 and a Thursday 1-4.
The café was set up and is run by Amy who is also the brains behind The Storybook Café Gifts. She is helped out by Nicola (me!) though I will soon be leaving to start a new job so if you want to see me/wish me good luck then this week is your last chance for a little bit at least.
Last week we did some colouring for mindfulness and since it went down well, we decided to carry on with some crafty bits and bobs and do some easy embroidery. We have the craft packs all set and we will also bring some colouring books in case anyone wants to carry on or wants to do something else. As always there is no pressure to take part in the activities – if you want to sit and chat, feel free to!
We hope to see you there!
Look after yourselves.
